Singer / Songwriter / Percussionist Shannon Gaye, described as “the slender singer with the big soulful voice,” cuts a powerful presence on stage, presenting melodic, groove-driven material steeped in Acoustic Soul and Rhythm & Blues tradition. With a fiery approach to improvisation, gifted Bulgarian Jazz pianist Kristian Alexandrov creates an evocative, visceral experience. The Vancouver-based dynamic duo will be joined by their stellar bandmate Derek DiFilippo on bass to present an intimate and interactive musical performance.
Kristian & Shannon's collaborations on stage and in the studio have resulted in eight original CD’s, performances at festivals and theatres across Canada, the U.S. and Europe, as well as song placements in film and TV. In addition to their own creative works, the two often write and produce with other artists, resulting in a platinum certified single One Day for pop star Tate McRae, as well as three Juno-nominated CD’s for artists Lauren Spencer-Smith, Jens Lindemann and Tommy Banks.

Wild Blue Herons with Horns at Frankie's Jazz Club
Wild Blue Herons with Horns are returning to Frankie’s Jazz Club for Juno weekend in Vancouver! We have a special guest drummer joining us for this concert - 2025 Juno Nominee for Best Jazz Album - Mark Kelso (from Toronto). It will be a bit of a reunion as Mark plays in the Ontario version of our band.
The band for the evening will be: Bill (piano/vocals); Darlene (vocals); Miles Foxx Hill (bass); Mark Kelso (drums); Steve Hilliam (tenor sax); Jim Hopson (trombone)

Garden Concert with Wild Blue Herons and Jane Mortifee
Wild Blue Herons (Bill and Darlene) and Jane Mortifee will each be performing a set in this lovely garden setting at the home of Don and Roxie Giles. These outdoor concerts have become favourite summer time events as patrons enjoy reserved seating, food, beverages, the beauty of the garden and, of course, great music.
The band will be: Bill Sample (keys) and Tim Porter (guitar)
You bring your own appetizers and beverage of choice and they supply the chairs and glasses.
